WEST Kent Police are asking for help in connection with an accident in which a car and a pedestrian were in collision on Mount Ephraim Road, Tunbridge Wells, on Tuesday.

A 67-year-old local man suffered serious head and spinal injuries after he was flung 24 metres by the impact. The car involved failed to stop.

The injured man was taken by ambulance to the nearby Kent and Sussex Hospital where his condition was later described as "stable".

Officers investigating the accident, which happened at about 9pm, have urged the driver of the car to come forward. It is a new style vehicle with a square back, possibly blue in colour. It is likely to have damage to the windscreen and front bodywork.
