A man was trapped under his burning motorbike after colliding with a horsebox on a main road.

The crash happened off the A264 Ashurst Road, on Monday, which was taped off near the intersection with Groombridge Road for several hours.

The motorbike's fuel tank ruptured in the accident and burning fuel spread across the road, igniting the horsebox.

Police were called to the scene. Stock image.

The rider's brother-in-law who had been riding with him pulled the motorcyclist free.

Firefighters used a hose reel jet to extinguish the fire. The motorcyclist was handed over to paramedics with burns.
