Pembury: Accident closes A21

A main road has been re-opened after an accident that has left two people seriously hurt.

The emergency services were almost four hours at the scene of the crash on the A21 that happened at 5.45pm.

The Highways Agency say there has been a serious collision between two vehicles on the southbound carriageway.

Both sides of the road were closed between the A228 at Pembury and the B2160 at Kippings Cross near Tunbridge Wells.

The air ambulance was called to the scene, and two people were taken to a London hospital with serious injuries.

A Kent Police spokesman said this evening: "We were called at 5.45pm following a collision involving two vehicles on the A21, close to the junction for Pembury (at the Henwood Green Road end of the village)."

The spokesman added: "Police, fire and ambulance crews are at the scene and at least two people are believed to have sustained serious injuries."

The road re-opened shortly after 11.30pm.
