A former police officer who pretended to be a secret agent in a vain bid to win his ex back has narrowly avoided jail.

Daniel Fisher hired an actress to go to his former girlfriend’s house and tell her he worked for MI6 and needed to meet her.

The 29-year-old had denied stalking following the bizarre stunt at the victim’s Tunbridge Wells home but was convicted following a trial last month (May).

Maidstone Magistrates’ Court heard he devised the plot following a two and a half month campaign of harassment last year.

Fisher, pictured, of Epsom, Surrey, bombarded the victim with unwanted texts, WhatsApp messages and emails despite her making it clear she did not want him to contact her.

But he claimed she had repeatedly contacted him during the same period which made him believe she wanted to rekindle the relationship.

Fisher, who lost his job as a police officer following a spate of driving offences several years ago, was handed an 84-day prison sentence, suspended for a year.

He was also ordered to complete 50 days of rehabilitation and 300 hours of unpaid work.
