Suspected Pembury burglar in the dock

A suspected burglar has been charged after bank cards stolen at break-ins in the Tunbridge Wells area were allegedly used in local shops.

Gary Bentley, 41, of Elmhurst Avenue, Pembury, was arrested on May 30 and was later charged with three burglaries and four counts of fraud.

The burglary charges relate to breaks-ins at private addresses in Sandown Park, Tunbridge Wells, on May 20, at Hastings Road in Pembury on May 24, and at Chalklet Lane in Pembury on May 28.

The other charges concern fraudulent use of bank cards at businesses in Tonbridge and Tunbridge Wells on May 24.

Bentley appeared by video link before Medway Magistrates Court on Monday and was remanded to a hearing at Maidstone Crown Court on Monday, July 1.
