Customers at a new Costa Coffee branch in Tunbridge Wells have been left baffled by a sign saying 'Welcome to Southborough.'

And some are now jokingly threatening to boycott the branch - the fifth in the town - unless it changes the sign immediately.

The branch is in St John's in the heart of the town but has been wrongly welcoming people to Southborough since it opened on September 10.

This picture of the sign in the new store was posted on Twitter by Steve Wynne

People have been quick to point out the error on social media.

Steve Wynne tweeted: "Dear Costa Coffee, your new cafe in Tunbridge Wells is most certainly not in Southborough. I would get that changed quick sharp."

And Anne Hughes-Wilson said: "Going to have to boycott my new local Costa Coffee until they change its name. We don't live in Southborough!

"Southborough is lovely. It's just not where I live!"

Costa has not yet responded to the protests.
