Two people found dead in flat in Grove Hill Road, Tunbridge Wells

Two people were found dead in a flat after neighbours were told to leave their homes as the emergency services dealt with an incident yesterday.

Police say they were called to a property in Grove Hill Road, Tunbridge Wells shorty after noon following concerns for their welfare.

People living nearby were told to leave their homes after police, fire officers and paramedics were called to the residential street.

Yesterday afternoon police said the occupants of neighbouring addresses had been asked to temporarily leave their homes as a precaution while SGN engineers attended to check the premises.

Bradley Barlow, a spokesman for SGN added: "We were called to a property in Grove Hill Road in Tunbridge Wells by the emergency services.

"We attended in our capacity as the gas emergency service provider in the south of England."

A spokesman for Kent Police confirmed this morning that two people had died at the property.

No other details about the people have been released by police, but officers said their deaths are being treated as unexplained.

The spokesman added: "Kent Police was called at 12.06pm on Wednesday regarding concern for the welfare of two people at a flat in Grove Hill Road, Tunbridge Wells.

"Police officers, South East Coast Ambulance Service and Kent Fire and Rescue Service all attended the address and the two people were declared dead at the scene.

"The deaths are currently being treated as unexplained and post mortem examinations will be carried out.

"The occupants of neighbouring addresses were asked to temporarily leave their homes as a precaution while SGN engineers attended to check the premises.

"Residents have now been permitted to return and there is no threat to public safety."
