Van hits woman in crash closing A26 London Road by The Pantiles in Tunbridge Wells

A woman has been rushed to hospital with "potentially serious injuries" after she was hit by a van in Tunbridge Wells.

Emergency services were called to The Pantiles following the collision on the A26 London Road, which happened at about 6.15am.

The air ambulance, police and ambulance crews were scrambled to the area.

An ambulance service spokesman said: "Ambulance crews attended the scene and were joined by the air ambulance service who attended by road.

"The patient was assessed and treated before being taken to Tunbridge Wells Hospital with potentially serious injuries."

The A26 London Road was shut in both directions between Major York's Road and the A267 while the incident was dealt with.

The road has now reopened, and traffic is moving slowly in the area.
