CORRY: "I can't fault the fight and heart"

FORMER Tunbridge Wells player Martin Corry has spoken of England’s "heartbreak" at losing to South Africa in the rugby World Cup final in Paris on Saturday.

England would have made history in the Stade de France by becoming the first team to successfully defend the Webb Ellis Trophy, but they were beaten 15-6 in a tryless final.

Corry said: "I can't fault the fight and heart. It is just such a shame when it counts for nothing.

"It all didn't go to plan - but it was so disappointing. We've come so far, and all the fans have been unbelievable. To be so close and not do it is heartbreaking."

The turning point of the match came when England wing Mark Cueto saw a 43rd-minute corner try not awarded by the video referee.

Asked if it was the right decision to disallow the try, Corry added: "I don't know. You have to get on with it."
