Air ambulance called to crash in Biddenden near Frittenden which causes delays along A274 Headcorn Road

A head-on collision between two cars caused long delays on a country road.

The A274 Headcorn Road near Biddenden was partially blocked in both directions due to the crash.

As a result there was slow traffic by the accident and the air ambulance also landed nearby.

A Mitsubishi 4x4 and Peugeot – which had its roof taken off by firefighters – collided near the Frittenden turn-off.

Ambulances and several fire engines were called to the scene.

A spokeswoman for Kent Fire and Rescue Service said: "At around 9.32am two fire engines were sent to the scene and crews arrived to a collision involving two vehicles.

"Firefighters used hydraulic rescue equipment to remove the roof of one vehicle and free a casualty."
