Chemicals stolen in raid at Bethany Green school in Goudhurst

Police have issued an urgent warning after potentially dangerous chemicals were stolen in a burglary at a school.

The raid took place at Bethany Green school in Curtisden Green, Goudhurst, near Cranbrook between 6pm on December 22 and noon on Christmas Eve..

Damage was caused to some of the classrooms and a number of items, including chemicals, were reported missing following the incident.

Officers are warning people that some of the chemicals stolen can be potentially hazardous if handled incorrectly.

Detective Chief Inspector Darren Mullins said "A number of the items taken from the school’s science laboratory are corrosive and can cause harm.

"We would urge anyone who knows where these items are, or finds clear plastic containers or brown glass bottles containing unknown substances, not to handle them or try to dispose of them, but to contact Kent Police immediately.’
