The search to find a dog who went missing with its owner back in August will continue, after a potential sighting turned out to be another dog.

Cocker spaniel Molly vanished with Christopher Fisher from their home in Headcorn on August 9 last year.

Mr Fisher, who had autism, was found hanging in Dering Woods, Smarden, on August 17, but Molly was never found.

Christopher Fisher was found a week after he went missing from his home in Headcorn (6332281)

An inquest heard Mr Fisher, 31, had been struggling to deal with major changes in his life, including the death of his grandmother, cuts to his disability allowance and a change in social worker.

In December, four months after disappearing, there were claims Molly had been spotted in Dering Woods.

Hopes Molly might come home were dealt a heavy blow yesterday.

Missing Pets GB, which tweeted of the potential sighting on December, confirmed it was in fact not her.

It posted yesterday: "Sadly, the recent sighting of the spaniel in Dering Woods was not Molly.

"Thank you all for the tweetstorm and sharing #wheresmolly. We'll keep looking. Stay positive."

The search to find Molly goes on.
