A rural scrap yard could soon go from trash to treasure after plans for a high-end development were submitted.

Wealden Ltd is proposing to build 25 homes at Bentletts Scrap Yard at the junction of Claygate Road and Collier Street near Laddingford.

The 2.5hectare lorry breakers yard sits in the middle of a patchwork of fields and isolated blocks of houses and falls within Collier Street parish.

The plans, submitted to Maidstone Borough Council, are for a mix of three to five bedroom houses and 87 parking spaces surrounded by trees and ponds on the plot which has been allocated for housing in the draft Local Plan.
