Christopher Fisher found hanging in Dering Wood near Pluckley

An autistic man found dead in woodland after being missing for more than a week was discovered hanging.

Christopher Fisher, known as Chris, was found by a member of the public in Dering Wood near Pluckley on Friday, August 17.

The 31-year-old from Headcorn was last seen by his father on August, 9 before he went missing.

Mr Fisher was in a distressed state, causing police to warn anyone who saw him not to approach in case it scared him.

Police and Kent Search and Rescue dispatched officers and three dog units on Thursday, August 16 after reports of noise coming from woods.

However, despite searching through the night in areas where he was known to walk his dog, no sign of Mr Fisher was found.

His silver Vauxhall Corsa was found several days before the discovery of his body.

However his black and white spaniel, Molly, is still missing.

His body was identified by Detective Sergeant Steve Smith.
