She has been making for the last six years and has had her own studio and kiln for the past four. She specialises in utilitarian and decorative ceramics.

Mr Bayliss runs Made By Bayliss and has been working with wood for the past 10 years, with a focus on furniture and more recently, after working with several local chefs, on home and kitchenware.

Both have their studios based near Staplehurst.

The shop sells a mixture of bespoke, hand-made homewares and furniture - from the vases, plates, bowls, cups, chopping and serving boards, bottles and jugs to benches, tables.

They also do commissions if there's something specific shoppers want.

Ms Thompson said: "Opening the shop has been fantastic. We've had some great feedback and meeting the local community - both shop-owners and shoppers - has been really lovely. We're proud to be part of such a close-knit High Street."

Mr Bayliss said: "It's brilliant to see people so engaged in what we're making. We're also hoping to work with some other local craftspeople and showcase their other work in the run up to Christmas, so watch this space.

"We're very much hoping that our shop becomes a destination that inspires people, offering gorgeous, practical items which make people's homes just a little bit better."
