House fire in Maidstone Road, Paddock Wood

A pensioner was treated for the effects of breathing in smoke following a blaze which started in a bedroom.

Three fire crews were called to the house, in Maidstone Road, Paddock Wood, at 1.20pm.

They used breathing apparatus, a hose reel, ventilation fan and thermal imaging camera to deal with the flames on the first floor of the house.

A man believed to be in his 70s was treated at the scene for the symptoms of smoke inhalation and transferred into the care of paramedics.

Police were also called, to help deal with the traffic.

The cause of the fire is not yet known.
