A teenage boy who was airlifted after suffering a neck injury while playing rugby at school is still recovering in hospital.

The air ambulance and paramedics were called to Cranbrook School at around 4pm on Monday after reports that a 15-year-old boy was hurt after being tackled during a training session.

He was treated on the playing fields at the Waterloo Road school before being taken by helicopter to Tunbridge Wells Hospital at Pembury.

The player was airlifted to hospital

A spokesman for the school confirmed that the boy is a boarding pupil and is currently still under observation in hospital.

A South East Coat Ambulance Service spokesman said that any potential neck injuries are treated very seriously which is why the pupil was taken to hospital.
