Dig out the bunting - best dressed boats will be bobbing along the River Medway to Maidstone this weekend.

The official Maidstone Boat Gathering - formerly Maidstone River Festival - will come to the riverside in the town centre in the afternoon on Saturday, July 28.

On a much smaller scale than its big brother the River Festival, the event is now a celebration of the boats which use the river, and the boatowners who love it.

There will also be an evening parade of decorated boats.

The gathering will be opened by Maidstone Mayor, Cllr Dave Naghi, at noon.
