BBC Gardener’s World favourite Rachel de Thame and Blue Peter gardener Chris Collins will be opening the Butterfly Jungles Experience and Plant Centre in the glasshouses at Hall Place, Bexley, at noon on Friday, February 14.

In the Butterfly Jungles Experience, visitors will be able to walk among stunning free flying butterflies from around the world in a rainforest environment full of exotic flowers.

All stages of a butterfly’s life cycle can be observed, from egg laying and caterpillars to the pupae from which visitors can see the adult butterflies hatch and dry their wings. There will be feeding stations where visitors can observe fruit feeding species.

A butterfly expert will also be on hand to explain all.

There will be all manner of butterfly goodies on sale, including the ever popular butterfly kits which allow you to rear your own butterflies.

The plant centre will offer a range of butterfly-attracting plants, shrubs and wild flowers. The tropical plant section will sell rare and exotics suitable for the greenhouse and conservatory.

The glasshouses at Hall Place, a Grade I listed building, will be open daily from Saturday, February 15, from 10am to 4pm. On the opening day, Friday, the gardens open from noon to 4pm.
