A popular coastal site has reopened its car park - but its spaces are limited.

The National Trust has now reopened its car park and the White Cliffs of Dover site, which is hugely popular with walkers all year round.

The trust closed its car parks back in March when it became apparent that social distancing would be impossible with large numbers of visitors during the early stages of the current crisis.

Now it has begun to gradually reopen its car parks, though other facilities and properties will not reopen soon.

The car park at White Cliffs is now open from 9am to 6pm and you do not need to book but spaces are limited - if the car park is full you will need to return another time.

Visitors are also urged to take their litter home.

In a statement, the trust, which is celebrating its 125th anniversary this year, said: "We're reopening the places you love, gradually, safely and in step with government advice. Our houses, gardens and parklands remain closed for now. But we're opening some of our coast and countryside car parks in England, so you can get out into green spaces."
