Back in the early 2000s, a Sheppey band Touriste were riding high and preparing to tour with Scouting for Girls.

Brother Kris and Sammie Harris were set for the big time, but the after effects of a debilitating car accident left Sammie unable to continue with the schedule.

Now, Sammie is back, with a three-piece rock band, SPINNER, who are set to launch their debut EP in Medway this weekend.

The band is made up of front man, singer and guitarist, Sammie Harris, bass player James Greenhow, and Ryan Sams, drummer and backing vocalist.

Their ever-expanding musical influences include The Who, The Doors, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, The Kinks, The Verve and bands not beginning with The, including Pink Floyd, Happy Mondays, Oasis, Kula Shaker, Ocean Colour Scene and Kasabian.

Sammie taught himself to play by the age of nine and as a teenager, he was spotted for his songwriting talent when he won a national songwriting competition two years in a row, judged by the likes of Sir Paul McCartney, Chris Martin and Steve Lemacq.

They launch their debut EP, No.1, at Poco Loco in Chatham on Friday, October 5 from 8pm, with free entry. There will also be music from Adam Walker & Friends, Martin Morris, The Lucifer Sams and The Ovines before SPINNER play at 11pm.
