Herne Bay: Month-long summer BayFest kicks off by the sea

A month-long festival of music and seaside events kicks off this weekend.

BayFest brings a popular classic car show, live music and more to Herne Bay from Saturday, July 28 to Bank Holiday Monday, August 27.

The community-run festival includes an award-winning cartoon festival, Herne Bay regatta, plus lots of beach events to keep the kids amused through the summer holidays including a sandcastle competition.

Rockpooling will be part of the month-long summer festival, BayFest

It kicks off with a beach fun day at Herne Bay Beach on Saturday, July 28 between 11am and 5pm, and Herne Bay Rowing Regatta from 10.30am to 4.30pm.

The official opening for the festival will be in the evening with a lantern procession at 7.30pm, featuring lanterns made at a sold-out workshop in the morning.

Other events this week include a summer trail around Herne Bay on Monday, July 30 and rockpooling at Reculver on Thursday, August 2.
