If you head down to the beach at Folkestone this weekend, you're likely to see mermaids, giant crabs and castles galore.

The annual Sandcastle Competition on Sunny Sands beach, is in its 11th year and promises to be as creative as ever.

If it can be made in sand, it's likely someone will build it in the contest which will be held on Sunday, July 22 between 10am and 1pm.

The event attracts thousands down to the beach to watch the creations emerge out of the sand through the morning.

Go armed with your bucket and spade and some imagination, and you could emerge victorious.
