Did your New Year's resolutions include becoming a world champion? If so, a Kent event has a challenge for you.

You can sign up for this year's World Custard Pie Championships, which will be held on Saturday, June 1, until the end of January.

The event, which is held in Coxheath near Maidstone, will see 32 teams compete against each other throwing custard pies, made using a secret recipe designed by Mr Pastry when the championships were first held in 1967.

Points are awarded for "hits" on different parts of the body.

Teams need to have four people and there is an entry fee of £40 per team and so far 20 teams have signed up to take part.

Last year's event raised funds which went to three charities in the village, the Coxheath & Farleigh Football Club, the Coxheath Scouts and the Coxheath Residents Village Hall.

The event, which will be the 52nd championships, is free and includes a family fun day.
