By: Angela Cole

Published: 15:10, 13 September 2016

Passionate about produce and fervent about food?

The Faversham Food Festival was set up by volunteers with a passion for local produce. Now in its third year, the three-day festival brings lip-smacking treats, entertainment and activities to the heart of the town. It kicks off on Friday, September 16.

Friday night is fish night. At 1pm, fish freshly-landed in Faversham by Bluey Walpole of Hollowshore Fisheries, will arrive at the Town Quay on Conduit Street to be welcomed by the mayor. Then, from 6.30pm until dusk there will be a fish supper on the quayside and live music from 7.30pm.

The Best of Faversham traders and food stalls will join the traditional Charter Market

On the Saturday, the traditional Charter Market will be boosted by the Best of Faversham traders and food stalls, with tastings and demonstrations.

If you’re looking for something to wash all the food down with, why not explore the beers and pubs of Faversham on an Ale Trail on the Saturday and Sunday? For £5 per person, get your souvenir tasting glass and tastings of 12 ales.

Also on offer will be mini fish and chips with mushy peas or macaroni cheese at the Phoenix Tavern on Saturday, September 17, when Faversham and Mid Kent MP Helen Whately will present the 2016 Local Food Hero award at 8.30pm.
