Gravesend Riverside Festival 2018 live music and family fun

Gravesend's Riverside Festival has seen a sizzling start to the day with families heading to the event in their droves.

There will be four main areas for the today's event - the Main Stage, Vintage, Active and Fringe, at the Gordon Promenade, Fort Gardens and, new for this year, the Fringe at St Andrew's Gardens.

Now in its fifth year, the family and music will have music throughout the day, and 90s boyband 911 bringing the event to a finish in the evening.

Family-friendly activities will be on offer at Gordon Promenade while in nearby Fort Gardens, there will be a dedicated family area with donkey rides, Punch and Judy and science and craft shows, before Lee Brennan, Jimmy Constable and Simon "Spike" Dawbarn - the boys of 911 - entertain the crowds with their hits including Bodyshakin', Night to Remember, Party People...Friday Night and More Than a Woman.

The bandstand fun, arranged with Forget-me-Not Vintage, will include the Iron Pier Brewery with a beer tent and the Lindy Hoppers performing through the day, as well as a vintage barbers, local history and shipping memorabilia, vintage cars, costumes and stalls while the music will be acts managed by Elephant Music.

There will be a Fringe Festival in and around LV21 Lightship with creative and participatory workshops and performances.

Cllr Sandra Garside of organisers Gravesham Borough Council, said: “This festival is always very popular with the people of Gravesham, and even those visiting from neighbouring areas. It promises to be a great day for everyone to enjoy.”
