From The Jam are celebrating a milestone anniversary of one of the biggest bands of the Mod era.

The band, led by The Jam's original bassist and songwriter Bruce Foxton, will be celebrating the 40th anniversary of the group's final tour, Beat Surrender, at the Great Hall in Gillingham.

From The Jam and The Jam's Bruce Foxton will be performing in Gillingham this week

When the band headed out on their farewell tour in 1982 they sold out five consecutive nights at Wembley Arena and their final single, of the same name as the tour, went straight to the top of the UK charts.

It was The Jam's fourth No. 1 single during their career, and they also had a No.1 album in the same year with The Gift.

Now the bass player, joined by new vocalist Russell Hastings, will be looking back on his time with The Jam and performing some of their best-loved hits such as Town Called Malice, Going Underground, That’s Entertainment and, of course, Beat Surrender.

The bassist will be joined by Russell Hastings for From The Jam's anniversary shows.

From The Jam will be supported by new wave icons Buzzcocks when they arrive in the county this week.
