It may be better known for its animal management courses, but a college near Tonbridge also has two national collections tucked away.

Tranquil Broadview Gardens, which is on the site of Hadlow College, is a unique garden originally designed and maintained for students, which is open to the public.

The eight-acre garden holds the National Collection of Hellebores, sometimes referred to as 'Christmas Rose' or 'Lenten Rose, which flowers from February to March, and the National Collection of Japanese Anemones, which flower from August to October.

Maintained by a dedicated team of gardeners, there are also a range of unusual plants and collections.

In summer, the gardens are filled with colour and, as part of the garden's sustainability, there are more drought-tolerant plants.

After a stroll through the gardens, you can stop off for a leisurely coffee at the tea rooms.
