Show you care this Valentine's Day by raising a glass with your loved one, and helping support wine and beer makers across the county.

From 'support bubbles' to beer that cares and the drink that sparked the term 'honeymoon', we take a look at some of the tipples to toast yourselves with.

Date night cocktail classes

The Egerton-based mobile bar The Thirsty Farrier, run by Jon and Dan Trainer has launched online classes, and has a date night package specially for Valentine's Day.

Guests receive a cocktail making kit before taking part, with Dan and Jon hosting virtually from their horsebox bar. Dan said: "It’s a great feeling knowing we can still bring families and friends together, despite everyone being apart, and something we hope to take away from this experience is still helping people create good memories during this tough time."

'Support bubbles'

Mereworth Wines say they have the best stay-at-home Valentine's support bubbles, in the shape of their award-winning first vintage White From Black which is made using the traditional method, just like in Champagne, but is made here in their Kent winery with grapes grown in their vineyard just down the road. This wine is a white sparkling wine made from black Pinot Noir & Pinot Meunier grapes and is available by the bottle, or a discounted case deal.

If you’re looking for something a little different, Mereworth Wines’ sister company Marourde makes a light, refreshing Spritz drink, honey-wine, made by fermenting honey with cool, Kentish water. Honey-wine was believed by many to be an aphrodisiac, drunk by newlyweds during their first month of marriage to encourage fertility, and giving rise to the term ‘honeymoon’.

The winery shop is open with Covid-safe measures in place, and offers click and collect. Visit mereworth.co.uk. Delivery is also available across Kent.
