Historic fighter planes will once again take to the skies over the Headcorn Aerodrome in early July for the spectacular 2019 Battle of Britain Airshow.

The organisers of the annual event expect this year’s popular air show to be bigger than ever before with incredible air displays and aerobatics over the Headcorn Aerodrome on Saturday, July 6 and Sunday, July 7.

The historic aircraft on show will include five Spitfires, five Hurricanes, two C-47s as well as a first ever appearance by a B-17 at the airshow.

The Battle of Britain Airshow is also the only airshow in the UK where spectators can get up really close to the planes that are flown by the world’s most experienced Spitfire pilots.

But it’s not just about WWII or old warplane enthusiasts.

There will also be a fun fair for the kids as well as a combination of specially selected food and beverage providers.

And there’s more exciting news.

There will also be opportunities for visitors to fly in the aircraft on the day!

“This is the biggest air show in Kent in terms of the number of planes taking part but it’s also a family event and not simply a diehard aviation show,” said Ben Perkins, who is the Managing Director of Aero Legends - the organisers of the 2019 Battle of Britain Airshow.

“We had initially started the Battle of Britain Airshow in 2015 as a single day event.

“But this year’s event at the Headcorn Aerodrome will be our fourth and largest show yet.

“The 2018 show entertained a capacity-crowd and we are expecting the same again this time around.”

The eight air displays at the Battle of Britain airshow range from round-top parachute drops to breathtaking warbird formations consisting of the Spitfires and Hurricanes.

There will also be two enclosures for preferential viewing of the airshow which will be perfect for spectators to sit back and enjoy the show on the provided seating.

“Aero Legends started with the idea of making WWII Battle of Britain era aircraft as accessible to the public as possible,” continued Ben.

“We started offering experiences in 2014 in the Tiger Moth, Harvard and Spitfire.

‘Drag ’em Oot’, a 1944 C-47 Douglas Sky Train that was used by the US Air Force, will also be on display at the show! Richard Paver Photography. (12840954)

“Through our annual airshow, passenger flights and parachuting, we now have 30,000 people per year experience our aircraft in one way or another!”

There’s never a dull moment for the Aero Legends.

Every year, they take to the skies in the D-Day commemorations over Normandy and the Arnhem commemorations in Holland.

They also participate in a number of major UK airshows and the Leeds Castle Classical Concert.

The 2019 Battle of Britain Airshow combines choreographed Battle-of-Britain era aircraft displays with family friendly attractions and re-enactments. It has something for everyone! (12840952)

“But the most special show is the Battle of Britain Airshow because it’s our own major airshow.

“We aim to grow the airshow brand, making it a multi-site show (Headcorn Aerodrome and North Weald Airfield).

“We'll also be growing the show in terms of attendees and participating aircraft.”
