Thousands of LEGO bricks are making - and recreating - history.

More than 200,000 pieces of the popular children's toy will arrive in Canterbury as part of a special event at The Beaney, in time for the half term holidays.

The Bricks Britannia display includes an eight-metre long model of the Flying Scotsman complete with light, sound and smoke effects.

Iconic moments from British history, from the Stone Age to the 21st Century, will be presented in brick form using more than 150,000 bricks.

Visitors will also be able to dive in and make their own creations with a 70,000-piece LEGO Brick Pit.

The exhibition has already proved so popular that pre-booked tickets are now sold out. More will be released to walk-in visitors.

Bricks Britannia: A History of Britain in LEGO Bricks at The Beaney runs until Sunday, February 24.

Admission is £6.50 and £5 for children, with under threes free.
