Cameraman Doug Allan on location in Svabard, Norwegian Arctic, filming arctic fox

One of the world’s leading wildlife cameramen, Doug Allen, will be talking about his fascinating career in a new one-man show.

Doug, whose TV credits include the epic wildlife series Blue Planet, Planet Earth, Life, and Frozen Planet, will use video footage and incredible photographs to recount some of his amazing adventures, from being dragged under water by a hungry walrus to being prodded while he slept by a polar bear.

Doug Allen: Life Behind the Lens will be at Canterbury’s Gulbenkian Theatre at 7.30pm on Wednesday, October 23. Tickets £12.50. Call 01227 769075.

Keen photographers are invited to improve their skills at a workshop in the beautiful surroundings of Leeds Castle.

Led by professional photographer Robert Canis, who lives in Sittingbourne, the Photo Walks are suitable for all ages and abilities.

Sessions take place from 10am to 1pm and 2pm to 5pm on Wednesday, October 23 and Friday, October 25.

Admission is priced £40, including a one-day ticket to the historic estate near Maidstone and refreshments. Call 01622 765400.
