Go on - push the boat out this weekend.

The annual Royal Yachting Association (RYA) event runs throughout May and there are some 20 venues across Kent and Medway offering open days and taster sessions starting this weekend.

The event gives you the chance to try sailing or windsurfing for little or no cost and first timers are welcome.

Across the country more than 350 RYA affiliated clubs and training centres will be opening their doors to the local community to try sailing throughout the month of May.

All kit and safety equipment is provided, so all you need is some clothes you don’t mind getting wet (ideally not jeans), a change of clothes and a towel.

To enjoy the freedom of being afloat, visit rya.org.uk and find your nearest Kent venue.
