Published: 15:56, 12 June 2018

There’ll be plenty of wet and wild fun down at the dockyard in Chatham this weekend.

The Historic Dockyard hosts its River Festival on Saturday, June 16 between 10am and 6pm as part of Festival 400, the site’s 400th anniversary, and also to mark Medway’s 20th anniversary.

Make sure you bring a towel if you’re up for some of the have-a-go activities on offer at the free event.

Displays include a jet ski team, a historic vessel sail past and Bristow helicopter fly past, the British Hovercraft Company and a fire tug display (subject to emergency call-outs). There is also a drop-in art workshop.

Run by Medway Council, the day also includes entry to a prize draw for those who register for fast track entry, with prizes including a pair of tickets to Salute to the ’40s, the English Chamber Orchestra and Jools Holland and his Rhythm & Blues Orchestra at the Rochester Castle Concerts on Wednesday, July 11.

You can register at thedockyard.co.uk/whats-on or for more details you can also go to medway.gov.uk/events
