A reimagined version of Dickens' iconic festive tale, A Christmas Carol, is set to be staged in the run-up to Christmas in a restaurant where diners watching the show can decide who plays Scrooge.

The Covid-friendly month-long production, being put on by The Get Out Of My Space’s (GOOMS), A Cratchits’ Christmas Carol, will be held inside the Grand Pavilion at The Beacon restaurant in Tunbridge Wells .

Tobais Cornwell's GOOMS will perform at the Beacon (42901582)

Running from Tuesday, December 1 to Sunday, December 20, audience members will choose which cast member plays Scrooge each night, and also enjoy a festive feast,-from socially distanced tables of up to six.

Budding entrepreneur Tobias Cornwell, 23, and the rest of the GOOMS team - Anna Blackburn, James Alston, Kathryn Djemai - created the experience so audiences have something to look forward to this Christmas.

Tobias said: "It will be a Christmas wonderland - beautiful and grand. There’ll be tables dotted around the space and the Cratchits will welcome you in.

"With plenty of the usual singing and festive jollities which we all love, the Cratchit family have prepared their retelling of how Ebenezer Scrooge learnt how to love Christmas.

"The only problem is that this year they can’t decide who's supposed to be playing Scrooge. So it's up to the audience to pick who gets to perform the plum role - the biggest cheer wins."

The meal will be served alongside cues in the script.

As Scrooge’s nephew Fred eats his Christmas dinner, the audience’s meal will be served too, in preparation for the interval.

Dessert comes when Scrooge starts to love Christmas and gives everyone Christmas pudding.

The cast will also be forming a support bubble to fulfil government guidelines.

GOOMS performed Black Fate, a story based on Romeo and Juliet, at the Beacon back in 2016.

Tickets for A Cratchits’ Christmas Carol are between £55-£70 per person, which includes a three-course Christmas feast. Book at gooms.co.uk/tickets
