This year’s two-day event looks set to be bigger and better than ever, with headline acts including Plan B and Jessie J.

The multi-talented Plan B headlines the first day of the festival at Quex Park in Birchington this weekend.

His album The Defamation of Strickland Banks went straight to No 1 in 2010, featuring hits including She Said.

Other acts to perform on Saturday, July 27, at the festival near Margate include Rita Ora, currently enjoying huge radio airplay with tracks including Hot Right Now, How We Do (Party) and R.I.P and last year’s X Factor winner James Arthur.

Jessie J will then headline the festival on Sunday, July 28.

Concert-goers on the Sunday will also be treated to performances by boybands Lawson, famous for hits including When She Was Mine, Standing in the Dark, Learn to Love Again and Brokenhearted and the new darlings of the music scene, Union J.

Sound Island Festival’s Dion Clements said: “Plan B and Jessie are both in such demand we’re thrilled they’re coming to headline this year, it’s a great coup for fans of the artistes and Sound Island audiences, in general.

“With guest appearances by Rita Ora, James Arthur, Lawson and Union J, Sound Island Festival 2013, is set to be the biggest and best yet.”
