It's one of Kent's best kept secrets - and you'll only find out about it if you go.

The In the Woods Festival is held in woodland in the Weald, but only ticket holders are told the exact location and even the line-up is kept under wraps until a week before.

Held on Friday, September 1 and Saturday, September 2, festivalgoers are treated to music, art and the spoken word, plus locally sourced cuisine and brews.

The pocket sized, award-winning festival has a capacity of just 1000, giving it an intimate atmosphere.

The line-up is kept secret but previous acts have included Slaves, Kate Tempest and Alt-J. Hosted by Radio X’s John Kennedy since 2009, all acts are personally selected by a team of curators, including Brit award-winning producer Charlie Andrew.

One of the organisers, Tim Adam-Smith, said: "What makes In the Woods different from other festivals is our focus on building a truly balanced line-up that reflects every corner of the industry.

"There are seven of us, all with wildly different tastes, gunning for the artists we think are producing something special - it's an incredibly democratic process where we only book an act if everyone is happy doing so."

There will be two main stages, art installations and intimate lounge areas for playing a selection of vinyl.

There will also be pop up cinemas showing art house films, yoga retreats and a silent disco. The final night in the woods is carried through until dawn, with a giant bonfire lit at midnight.

Tickets cost £130. For more, go to inthewoodsfestival.co.uk
