A bus has hit scaffolding in Whitstable High Street.

Photos show a number 4 bus apparently lodged under scaffolding outside The Offy and Whitstable Lavender, but it is not yet clear how this happened.

Traffic through the town is currently being diverted, as Sea Street has closed so work can be carried out on the Tile Warehouse redevelopment.

A Stagecoach spokesman said "A route 4 bus heading towards Canterbury struck some overhanging scaffolding in Whitstable High Street at lunchtime.

"We're conducting a full investigation to establish exactly how this happened."

All services in the Whitstable area are now operating, with some route 4 and Triangle buses running up to 10 minutes late.
