A flea-ridden dog was found tied to a garden gate 100 miles from its home.

Ziggy, whose chip is registered to an address in Whitstable, was found infested with fleas and injured in High Wycombe in Buckinghamshire.

The RSPCA is now appealing for information to find his owners.

The RSPCA are appealing for information to find Ziggy's owners.

The fox terrier type dog was found on Tuesday, November 1, and was also suffering with a large tennis ball sized lump on the back of his left leg.

It is thought he is around 12 years old and he is microchipped and neutered and wasn't underweight, suggesting he was once owned.

Ziggy's chip is registered to an address in Whitstable but the phone number is now out of date.

This is where Ziggy was found in High Wycombe.

RSPCA inspector Rachel Smith said: “It could be that this poor dog is reaching his twilight years and as senior animals require more care and attention as they age, the decision was made to tie him up and leave him.

“We would urge anyone who saw what happened or who knows who owns Ziggy to come forward and contact us.

“Ziggy is quite a distinctive looking fox terrier type. He is white with a big brown spot on his right side. He has a pretty large growth on his hind left leg so hopefully someone will recognise him.

Flea-ridden Ziggy was found tied to a fence.

“Thankfully he's a noisy little thing too so the whole estate heard him and hopefully someone knows something.”

Ziggy is currently receiving care at an RSPCA centre and swabs have been taken of his lump to determine the state of his health.

Anyone who recognises Ziggy can leave a message for inspector Smith on 0300 123 8018.
