Sarah Jegede from Whitstable is competing in the UK Power Pageant

A University of Kent graduate will be flying the flag for the county at the UK Power Beauty Pageant this weekend.

Sarah Jegede from Whitstable, is hoping to be chosen to represent England and win a place at the Miss Grand Intercontinental in Myanmar.

The 26-year-old, who ahcieved a BSc in social sciences, is no stranger to the beauty pageant limelight having previously been a Miss Africa GB.

After university, she worked in Asia as a foreign language teacher and is now using the contest as a platform to fund raise for the Christie Charitable Fund which supports cancer education, research and care.

The pageant takes place at the Park Hall Hotel in Preston, Lancashire, on Sunday.

Sarah said: "It's a very exciting opportunity with a chance to travel, even as far as Toyko, if I am chosen to represent the UK. I just hope to do Kent proud."
