Kent's very own Hammer Horror star Peter Cushing is set to return to the big screen from beyond the grave, reports suggest.

The silverscreen actor, who died in 1994, lived in Whitstable for the final 25 years of his life.

Now the Daily Mail website is reporting that Cushing will be digitally recreated in the new Star Wars spin-off Rogue One, which is being filmed at Pinewood Studios in Buckinghamshire and is due to be released late next year.

Cushing, who starred in the original 1977 Star Wars film, played Darth Vader's 'boss', the evil Grand Moff Tarkin who commanded the Death Star.

In the new Rogue One film Cushing - who died of prostate cancer aged 81 - is set to be brought back to life using Computer Generated Imagery (CGI).

He also featured as the star of countless horror films during his career, including Dracula and Dr Frankenstein.

Rogue One, to be released by Walt Disney Pictures, is due to hit the big screen in 2016.
