Unprovoked attack on customer in Prince Albert pub in Sea Street, Whitstable

Police are hunting an attacker following an unprovoked assault in a Whitstable pub in which a man suffered puncture wound under his arm.

It happened in The Prince Albert in Sea Street around 8.45pm on Friday night and the 30-year-old victim needed hospital treatment.

He was drinking in the bar with a friend when a couple are reported to have come into the pub.

Det Sgt Brian Doughty said: "After a few minutes, the man came over and the victim said he felt as though he had been pushed in the back. He had in fact suffered a puncture wound under his right arm."

He was taken to hospital but his injuries are not described as serious.

Police now want to trace the couple. The man is described as being in his 50s, short, skinny and with short grey hair. He was wearing a black coat. The woman is thought to be in her 40s, of a heavy build with blonde hair.

DS Doughty said: "We are very keen to speak to witnesses of this apparently unprovoked assault. We would also like to hear from anyone who recognises the descriptions of the couple."
