A video of a bike theft in Whitstable has been shared hundreds of times online in an attempt to track down a gang of thieves.

The bike, belonging to 24-year-old John Burnett, was swiped from under the railway arches behind where he works at All Tyres and Wheels, at just after 2pm last Tuesday.

Mr Burnett's co-worker shared CCTV footage online that captured the moment a gang of seven people dressed in hoodies took the bike.

His post has since been shared more than 800 times on Facebook.

The video shows a young man in a hooded jumper climb over metal fencing, while five others stand in the quiet road watching, and another perches on the fence to watch.

It then shows the young man jump down, grab Mr Burnett's bike, and pass it back to his waiting accomplices.

Less than a minute after appearing on the camera, the group made a swift getaway with the bike, back in the direction from which they came.
