Kent Police appeal for witnesses after incident in Oxford Street in Whitstable.

A man was left needing hospital treatment after a suspected assault in Whitstable this morning.

He was knocked to the ground and sustained injuries when Kent Police were called to the scene in Oxford Street at 1am.

It was reported that a group of up to 20 people were part of an altercation which began outside nearby premises and spilled onto the road.

A 19-year-old Whitstable man has been arrested on suspicion of assault.

A Kent Police spokesman said: “Police want to speak to anyone who witnessed the incident or has any information that may help with inquiries.

“Anyone with information is asked to contact detective constable Barry Carr on 01843 222289 quoting reference 07-0067.”
