This appears to be the first instance of the school having to use such a measure.

Those 29 children in the Year 5 bubble will still be taught through online learning.

The Stour Academy Trust - which runs the school - released a statement following yesterday's action.

It said: "We can confirm we have been advised by Public Health England that there has been a confirmed case of COVID-19 within Finberry Primary School.

"We have followed national guidance and have identified that children and staff in Year 5 have been in close contact with the affected child.

"The rest of the school remains open and we continue to follow extensive measures that minimise the risk from Coronavirus."

"In line with national guidance, our Year 5 class will now stay at home and self-isolate.

"Children self-isolating will be able access teaching from home as lessons will be conducted remotely for the duration of the self-isolation period.

"The rest of the school remains open and we continue to follow extensive measures that minimise the risk from Coronavirus whilst ensuring that children’s education remains as engaging and exciting as possible."

It comes after it was revealed yesterday that 51 schools across the county have been impacted by coronavirus, with Thanet, Canterbury and Swale the worst affected areas.
