Firefighters have spent more than three hours tackling a fire at dog kennels in Ashford.

Two women were checked by ambulance crews after breathing in smoke and a dog was given oxygen by crews.

The blaze broke out in the building in Coopers Lane yesterday afternoon.

Around 15 firefighters were called at about 1.45pm along with paramedics from South East Coast Ambulance Service.

The blaze, which affected the whole building, was tackled by crews in breathing apparatus using a main jet, hydrant and a bulk water carrier.

UK Power also arrive to isolate power to the outbuilding so firefighters could continue working to battle the blaze.

Kent Fire and Rescue Service crews were at the scene until about 5.15pm. It is not yet known how the fire started.
