Two people have been hospitalised following a serious crash that closed the M20 in both directions.

A massive emergency service presence attended the scene of the incident between junction 9 for Ashford and junction 8 Maidstone Services.

An ambulance vehicle has flipped in the crash, and three other cars appear to have crashed into the barrier.

All traffic was being held on the London-bound carriageway while police and ambulance services attend to the scene.

Coast-bound cars were temporarily allowed through but the carriageway before being shut with diversions in place.
