A man has been released after being interviewed in connection with an assault in Sidcup, which left a 17-year-old boy with a fractured eye socket.

Detectives previously appealed for information to identify a man in connection with the attack, which happened after the victim had got off a number 51 bus at the Halfway Street/Old Farm Road East stop.

It happened at around 3.05pm on Tuesday January 14, when a man leaving the bus was bumped into by a group of schoolchildren walking past.

He then stumbled into the victim and started shouting and swearing in his face, and then punched the teenager as he tried to to walk away.

The victim was helped by a pedestrian and later taken to hospital where he was assessed as having a fractured eye socket.

Subsequently a 41-year-old man attended a south London police station on Thursday, May 14, and was interviewed under caution.

Police say he was not arrested and inquiries into the circumstances continue.
