The priest who gave an impassioned sermon at the wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle is coming to Kent.

The Most Reverend Michael B Curry shot to fame with his 14-minute speech at the Royal nuptials at St George's Chapel at Windsor Castle last May.

Bishop Michael B Curry

Quoting Dr Martin Luther King, the Chicago-born bishop spoke passionately about the power of love.

The wide-ranging and colourful sermon was seen as a significant break from tradition and transfixed many in the congregation and the huge television audience.

Bishop Curry became the first black presiding bishop of the Episcopal Church - like the Church of England, part of the Anglican Communion - when he was appointed in 2015.

He has spoken out on social justice issues in the past, including LGBT rights and sexual abuse.

Now he is to join the Archbishop Justin Welby in conversation at Canterbury Cathedral on Tuesday, October 1 at 7pm, which will feature a question and answer session and musical interludes.

Bishop Curry will also be talking about his new book, Songs my Grandma Sang.

Tickets for the event cost £11 via The Kings School box office or calling 01227 595778.

In May The Kingdom Choir, who also performed at the ceremony, came to the city.
