Bomb squad called to Coleridge Road, near Temple Hill after wartime device discovery

The bomb squad swooped on a street after a wartime device was found.

Police were called to Coleridge Road, near Temple Hill in Dartford following the discovery of the munitions equipment shortly after 9.30am.

They were joined by Explosive Ordnance Disposal experts from the Ministry of Defence who assessed the item, later revealed to be a 12 pounder Armstrong shell.

The shell was successfully destroyed on site and the incident was declared closed shortly after 2pm.
